I dreamt of terrible performance. I had two competitions in a weekend, first a showjumping competition, in which me and my horse ollie finished in last place by an absolute landslide, with me crying next to my horse as I humbly accept my shortcomings, and after this, on the sunday, a ballet competition in which me and my ballet group finish seventh out of seven, where we get very angry at each other because we cannot stand losing. I actually do both showjumping and ballet and I have both competitions tomorrow and the day after.
Dreams about competitions, especially ones that involve poor performance, often reflect our inner thoughts, feelings, and anxieties about expectations, self-judgment, and the pressure to succeed in our waking lives.
In your dream, the significant themes include:
Fear of Failure: Your dream may signify anxiety about the upcoming competitions. Finishing last in both events in your dream likely symbolizes a fear of not meeting your own expectations or the expectations of others.
Vulnerability: Seeing yourself cry next to your horse indicates a moment of vulnerability and acceptance of your limitations. This may highlight that you recognize the importance of humility and learning from your experiences, both valuing the journey as much as the outcome.
Conflict in Team Settings: The anger among your ballet group signifies the frustration that can arise when teamwork does not go as planned, especially in competitive environments. This might point to concerns about how you and your peers handle pressure, competition, and disappointment.
Internal Pressure: The dream could also reflect a battle between your passion for these activities and the stress that competition brings. Balancing personal enjoyment with the desire to excel can create inner conflict.
To interpret this dream going forward, consider how you can approach your upcoming competitions with a mindset focused on personal improvement and enjoyment rather than solely on results. Affirmation of your skills, preparing adequately, and perhaps communicating with your teammates about managing competition stress could help alleviate these feelings before the actual events.
